Who
requires a student visa?
A visa may be required to study in Austria, depending on nationality
In addition, if the planned stay is over 6 months in duration, a residency permit may be required, depending on nationality.

What
documents will be required?
Most visa applications will require the following: (a) Completed application form(s). (b) Passport valid for at least 3 months longer than the validity of the visa applied for. c Fee (cash or postal order only); cheques, except certified bankers drafts, are not accepted. (d) 2 passport photographs. (e) For transit passengers, the visa from the destination country must be obtained first. (f) Proof of intention to return to home country. (Applicants may submit return ticket or vehicle papers if returning by car.)
In addition, some applications will also require: (g) Letter of acceptance from institute. (h) Proof of sufficient financial means to fund stay in Austria. (I) An all risk medical insurance policy covering duration of visa.

Processing usually requires 2 working days, however, as the processing of certain applications (including postal) may take up to 4 weeks, early application is highly reccomended.

is the cost of a visa?
A uniform type of visa, the Schengen visa, is issued for many visa applications: 1-30 days: £14.80 / 25 euros 31-90 days (single-entry): £17.70 / 35 euros 31-90 days (double- or multiple- entry): £20.70 / 50 euros
